Principle Photography begins.
December 2004
Production moves into a vacant office park in Woodland Hills
California, where the production prepped the start for the film “My
Demon Within”.
The office complex houses the production office and all the
departments, it would also provide several standing sets for the film,
and the warehouse in the rear to be used as a sound stage and “Parking
Garage” set. Production would build a total of nine sets in this
space, with construction happening at all times while principal
photography was progressing. In addition, the production utilized an
additional vacant office as the “Office Set” for the film.
UPM Raul Contreras, with the help of a small dedicated crew
scavenge the surrounding empty offices for set pieces and furniture.
The office complex proved to be a goldmine, with Ninety percent of the
furniture used on the film found on the site.
The cubicle walls of the “Office Set” were created by sound baffle
material and one by one wood frames, light enough for two people to
carry a Ten foot section but sturdy enough for the shoot, however, the
walls would wobble as cast or crew ran by.
Many pieces of furniture were used more than once, painted and
disguised by the talented Art Director Gina Karaba and her crew, she
also scavenged for many of the films props in and around the complex,
and scoured the second hand stores for set pieces and unusual
knickknacks.
November 2004
The casting for the film begins, and soon the characters come to
life as the actors take their places.
October 2004
Pre pre-production begins on “My Demon Within”. Lou Klein comes
onboard as the demon designer and heads the creation of the prosthetic
head and hands for the creature, sculptor Mark Lynn was responsible
for bringing the nooks and crannies of the demon to life. Cleve Hall
comes onboard as demon bodysuit designer and fabricator, bringing his
years of monster making expertise to the project. Cleve is also in
charge of the special make up effects, creating all the ghastly
killings and blood effects.
