Michael
was born and bred in Taiwan, the small tropical island that he once
called home, where he was exposed to the local cinema scene, a mixture
of the martial art and horror genre. Once moved to Seattle, he was
introduced to the world cinema of Kurosawa, Lean, Truffaut, Scorsese
and more. During this period, he was also pursuing an acting career,
appearing in many theatre and local television projects. With a
promising role in the film “Singles” Michael soon moved to Los
Angeles, where he worked as an actor on the CBS sitcom “Love & War”,
and began a long relationship with “The Power Rangers”
His uncle who
worked for NBC, always showed him the beauty of cinema, and the
techniques of camera movement and lighting that continued to inspire
Michael.
During
the off time between acting jobs, Michael pursued these storytelling
skills by shooting many short films. These include: The Van Nuys
Project (screened at the Valley Festival ’03) Snapshots (official
selection for LA African American Fest ’03), Crouching Waiter Hidden
Chef (released through “Everyone is Kung Fu Fighting” DVD Jan ’04) The
Arbitrators (released in vol. 2 of “Everyone is Kung Fu Fighting” May
’04), both titles will air on the VOOM cable network in 2005.
Michael first feature film The Revolting Dead was completed in ’04,
and sold to the domestic market through Maverick Entertainment, and
Hollywood Wizard for all foreign markets. Michael’s second feature
film Doomed, will be sold at the coming market in November.
